Here’s Tyler Perry’s plea to fans to go see his new movie “Good Deeds” which opens tomorrow. The second paragraph of his message reads:
“GOOD DEEDS opens tomorrow, Friday February 24th, everywhere. It’s the opening weekend box office numbers that count in Hollywood. That is how they judge you, so if you can make it to the theaters this weekend, please do so. I never ever take for granted that you are automatically going to show up, but I tell you, I thank God that you do. I’m hoping that this time is no different.”
The message itself is innocuous enough, he only invokes God’s name once, but it’s enough. It’s like chum to the circling sharks coming to feast on his message boards. Most of the comments are words of love, praise and gratitude, message board wreaths lain at the alter of Madea. There’s also some pretty sweet racism, including this gem from a commenter aptly named “Mad as Hell”:
“I just received an E-mail saying your next MADEA MOVIE cast is WHITE! WHAT THE HELL? YOU JUST SENT OUT E-MAIL FOR US TO SUPPORT RED TAILS, AND HERE YOU GO WITH YOUR NEXT FILM AND CAST ALL WHITE FAMILY FOR MADEA WITNESS PROTECTION. WHAT THE H*** TYLER? YOU JUST ADDED FUEL TO THE FIRE.”
I’d recommend combing through the message board for a bit. It’s quite the read.
Finally, in honor of Tyler Perry’s latest film, (I’ve seen them all, I think…), I present you with this jpeg. Enjoy!
