DANCEDANCEDANCE

DANCEDANCEDANCE

Filming dance is a hell of a lot of fun. Trying to forecast a dancer’s movement with mine is an exhilarating way to spend a night. I filmed the video below on my GH4 using my new Zhyun Crane, which I simply call “Frasier”. With Frasier in my hand I followed the dancers for hours, leaving the theatre covered in sweat. (I was covered in sweat. The theatre was mostly dry.)

The dancers, especially the older girls who have been training for years, have this crazy strength and core control. Being up close and on stage with them you can hear the breaths and see that all that fluid movement we see on stage requires a tremendous amount of effort and skill and practice. For some ,it is ethereal and almost out of body. For others it is more physical; creating a sort of transcendence through sheer strength.
